GET OUT (SCENE RECREATION)

“THE SUNKEN PLACE”

For a cinematography project, I chose to recreate the “Sunken Place” sequence from *Get Out*, directed by Jordan Peele and shot by cinematographer Toby Oliver.

I analyzed the scene shot by shot, focusing on framing, camera movement, lighting ratios, and visual tone to understand how the sequence conveys isolation and psychological tension. Based on this analysis, I meticulously planned each shot, carefully selecting camera angles, lens choices, and lighting setups to match the original scene as closely as possible. The scene was filmed using a Sony FX6 with Canon CN-E prime lenses, allowing me to achieve a cinematic depth of field while adapting the look to suit the resources available in a classroom production environment.
